The merge between the original design and modernity.

The Lapa 111 rehabilitation project is at the application stage of the National Prize of Urban Renewal 2014.

Architect Clara Couceiro, who heads the team of MixArq studio, was the author of this project of urban intervention that consisted of the rehabilitation of three buildings inserted into two lots for residential use, resulting in a total of seven houses. These buildings are located in the historic old town of Lisbon, in Lapa locality.

The main priority of the project was to maintain the building and architectural elements, considered to have asset value. In contrast, the current intervention and the new building are easily distinguished from the existing elements. It appears that the contemporary fingerprint contrasts with the pre-existing elements, which confers the buildings an effective valorization in architectural terms.

Courtyards and gardens, characteristic of Lisbon, were created to enjoy the outside space, and inside the lot, 19 parking spaces were also created.

The merger between the original design and modernity printed by Architect Clara Couceiro, earned the property the acceptance of the application for this award which recognizes the interventions and urban regeneration projects that promote the appreciation of existing assets.
